Gokyo-Lake-Trekking - 12 Days Max. altitude: 5357 mtrs. Grade : 'C ' Minimum group size: Any Overview: The highest mountain on earth has several different names. to the westerners it became Mt. Everest in 1865. More recently the government of Nepal has given it the name Sagarmatha.The Solukumbu region of Nepal where Mt. Everest lies has been a magnet for travelers ever since its opening to foreigners in 1950. This region is famous not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries with their culture virtually unchanged through the centuries.Solu has received countless trekkers and mountaineers from all over the world. Solukhumbu has developed to a stage where many options are possible-from a full-scale expedition with tents and porters to an independent trek using the local lodges.Sagarmatha National Park established in 1976 covers much of the region. This fascinating land surrounded by high mountains is a real paradise for mountaineers and trekkers . This trek begins at the mountain airstrip at Lukla a one hour flight from Kathmandu. Our destination is the high altitude lakes of Ghokyo at over 4200 mtrs. Less frequented than the E.B.C route the trek provides some tremendous high altitude trekking and a visit to the second largest glacier in the World. From the top of Gokyo Ri there are some spectacular mountain views including Everest. We return to Lukla and our flight back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Fly, Kathmandu / Lukla (a 45 minute flight) rek to Phakding

Day 02: Phakding / Namche Bazaar (3446 m.)

Day 03: Namche Bazar Rest

Day 04: Namche Bazaar / Dole (4200 m.)

Day 05: Dole / Machchhermo (4470 m.)

Day 06: Machchhermo / Gokyo (4790 m.)

Day 07: Excursion around Gokyo Lake climb Ghokyo Ri (5357 m.)

Day 08: Gokyo / Dole (4200 m.)

Day 09: Dole / Namche Bazaar (3446 m.)

Day 10: Nache Bazaar / Phakding (2610 m.)

Day 11: Phakding / Lukla (2840 m.)

Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu
